Diltiazem hydrochloride is used to treat:

  • Angina (chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart).
  • High blood pressure.

Do not take diltiazem hydrochloride:

  • If you are allergic to the active ingredients or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
  • If you have a heart problem called sick sinus syndrome (unless you have a pacemaker).
  • If you have a problem with the heart's electrical conduction system called AV block.
  • If your heart rate is slow.
  • If you have low blood pressure.
  • If you have recently had a heart attack or a clot in the lung (pulmonary embolism).

Warnings and Precautions:

Tell your doctor about all your health conditions, including:

  • If you have heart failure.
  • If you have any heart problems.
  • If you have liver or kidney problems.
  • If you have diabetes.

Possible side effects:

  • Stop using this product and seek immediate medical attention if you develop a rash; itching; red, blistered, or peeling skin; tightness in the chest or throat; difficulty breathing, swallowing, or speaking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.
  • The frequency with which these side effects occur is unknown.

Serious side effects:

  • Allergic reactions

  • bradycardia
  • heart rate
  • If you experience these symptoms, contact your doctor immediately.

Other medicines and diltiazem hydrochloride:

  • Tell your doctor about all the medicines you take.
  • Diltiazem interacts with many medications, including:
  • Dantrolene
  • Ivabradine
  • beta blockers
  • Digoxin
  • blood pressure medications
  • Medications that affect your heartbeat
  • Medications used for epilepsy
  • Statins used to lower cholesterol
  • Narcotic drugs
  • lithium
  • Rifampin
  • Theophylline

How to take diltiazem hydrochloride:

  • This property is intended for adults.
  • Take this medication as directed by your doctor.
  • Do not break or crush extended-release tablets.
  • Swallow them whole.
  • Take extended-release capsules with food.
  • Angina pectoris: The usual dose is 60 mg - 120 mg twice daily or 200 mg once daily.
  • High blood pressure: The usual dose is 60-120 mg twice daily or 200 mg once daily.
  • Your doctor will adjust your dose if necessary.

How to store diltiazem hydrochloride:

  • Store at room temperature below 86°F (30°C).
  • Keep this medicine out of reach of children.
  • Do not use this medicine after the expiry date printed on the carton.
